12:00pm – 1:00pm
For the first time ever, in 2018 consents for medium and high-density housing outstripped those for traditional housing in Auckland. As the momentum builds for a different style of development, we must change the way we think about construction.
At the Asian Construction Forum a panel of industry leaders from Auckland Council, BCITO, Prefab NZ, ADNZ and specialist construction businesses will be exploring how construction is changing in New Zealand; how we can build quality housing more efficiently and affordably; what we need to do as an industry to ensure quality; what role modular housing and prefabrication should play; and how we can break down the barriers to change.
2:00pm – 3:00pm
Many buildings in New Zealand are traditionally designed and built only to meet minimum compliance requirements. The industry and the Government are now realising though, this approach carries huge performance risks.
At the Asian Construction Forum’s second panel discussion, leaders from BRANZ, Registered Master Builders, Barfoot and Thompson, ADNZ and Kiwi construction companies will lead a discussion around the importance of lifting the minimum quality benchmark; the risks of poor quality construction; what needs to be done to ensure workmanship and installation are of an acceptable quality; and the benefits to builders, developers and home occupiers of lifting standards.
